The Celtic Cross Spread
Past, Present, Future Spread
The Celtic Cross Spread is a traditional spread that is utilized by many of us who practice and work with the Tarot! This spread really looks into your current situation on many levels, it looks at your present situations, your past, recent events, your goals, probably futures, environmental influences and much more!
Card 1: Present Position - This card represents the individual seeking the reading and asking the question. It resonates with the current atmosphere influencing the seeker.
Card 2: Immediate Influence - This card crosses you, it shows the influences and obstacles which lie just ahead.
Card 3: Goal or Destiny - This card crowns you! It shows the ultimate goal or destiny of the seeker, as well as current ideals. It indicates what can be accomplished based upon the existing circumstances.
Card 4: Distant Past - This card is behind you! It shows the events and influences which existed in the distant past that are the foundation of present events. These influences are embodied within the seeker.
Card 5: Recent Past Events - This card is beneath you! It indicates that which recently came into being.
Card 6: Future Influence - This card is before you! It represents what is coming into being in the near future.
Card 7: The Seeker/Questioner - This denotes the questioner in the present position or attitude. This card places the questioner in proper perspective.
Card 8: Environmental Factors - This shows how the seeker/questioner influences other people, as well as how other people, and factors may affect him or her.
Card 9: Inner Emotions - This card shows the hopes, emotions, desires, and fears of the seeker. This card may also reveal secrets and ulterior motives which the seeker keeps from others.
Card 10: Final Results - This indicates the likely culmination and result, provided events and influences continue as indicated.

The Past, Present, Future Spread is a really good spread for touching the surface. Some people don't want to dig deep right at first and really want a surface scan. Something that helps them understand the situation, something that will touch on other influences but wont really get deep into the core and bring out some deep emotions. I really love this spread! It gives you just what you need, not to much and not to little! It helps you to really discover your situation and receive the necessary tools to move forward with it.
Card 1: Past - This card represents the past. This can touch on a few things. The past as in your past and how you came to the situation that you are in. The past of the situation that you are in and how you interact with it or the individuals in question. This card looks back and traces your thought patterns, your choices and is able to formulate how you came to be where you presently are. This card is a savior! It helps us to understand what we may have done or chose in the past to get us where we are today and if we do not like it we are able to see it and change it.
Card 2: Present - This card represents your present situation. Who you are right now, where you are right now and everything that is happening.. You guessed it.. Right Now! This card moves from the past and shows you exactly how it has come to be. It shares with you emotions, people, energy, that are all interacting with your situation in the moment. Understanding where you are at this very instant is a good thing. It helps you to see if you are in a place to move and change or if you are in a place that is stagnant.
Card 3: Future - This card represents the possible future given that the current circumstances and path stays on track and doesn't change. This card deals with both past and present cards and shows you what could be given your past and present choices. Remember that the future is not set in stone. If you see something you do not like, you have the power to change it! The Future is in your hands!
